The Ohio PTA, a branch of the National PTA, is composed of over 48,000 members, 450 units, and 39 councils in 5 regions. The Ohio PTA was organized in May 1901. The Ohio PTA Board of Directors includes an executive committee, directors, district advisors, and the immediate past president. All are volunteers.

Advocacy Committee – aids the Advocacy chair in implementing the advocacy efforts of the Ohio PTA as it applies to monitoring the legislative bodies that make policy for education and other children and family issues.

Media/Marketing Outreach Committee – Works with the Med/Mar Outreach Chair to carry out public relations efforts to promote awareness of Ohio PTA and its programs.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee – Helps to ensure that local PTAs are inclusive, making each family feel invited and valued and that each family has a sense of belonging, and promotes/creates programs to educate leaders and members on the needs, cultural beliefs, traditions and family structures of the population they serve.

Education Committee – Helps in carrying out efforts to provide Ohio PTA members with information about changes in education practice and news about progress of education reform.

Family-School Partnership Committee – Assists the FSP Chair in promoting the standards for parent involvement, building partnerships in the community, parent involvement opportunities, parent education for family responsibilities, and helping understand the role they play in a child’s education.

Member Services (Membership) – The Member Services Committee is charged with the responsibility of promoting membership in local PTA units/councils throughout the State of Ohio.

Health, Welfare, and Safety – Provides members with information about health, welfare, and safety issues and legislation regarding children and families.

Reflections – The Reflections Committee recognizes the participation of children and youth, preschool through grade 12, in the Ohio PTA and National PTA project designed to stimulate student participation in the arts.
